A current exhibit at Musée du Quai Branley, Cheveux Chéris (Beloved Hair) showcases how hair has played a role in our anthropological evolution. Whether for protection, power or seduction, what's on top of our head let's the world know who we are on a variety of levels.
Hi Hildi! Hair certainly has played a crucial role in our history. My favorite era is the 18th century--more specific the 18th century of Marie Antoinette and Paris. Parisiennes went insane for her 3ft high coiffed bedazzled hair and then just 2 decades later they lopped it off entirely along with her head!
Since you're in Paris, if you ever want to see Versailles like she did...let me know. I have the connect! www.thetravelingpear.com www.chasingfrenchhistory.com
When we (the Chef and I) lived in Paris, the Musee du Quai Branley was one place we never visited. Some reason it wasn't on my radar! Looks like an interesting exhibit.
Thanks Elissa...I may take you up on that! When you visit Musee du Quai Branley, be sure to make a reservation at Les Ombres, their restaurant with fantastic views of the Eiffel Tower. H
